Seven different species of sea (or marine) turtles grace our ocean waters, with three being critically endangered. These ancient mariners can live to 100 years but they do face a multitude of threats from even before they hatch with only one in 1,000 surviving to adulthood. Healthy oceans need sea turtles as they are a "keystone species", which means they are an important part of their environment and influence other species around them.
